For Kate and Kade, their story started during college. Although they attended rival schools, they were introduced through Kade’s sister, Rylie, and her husband, Logan. After following Kate on Instagram (and waiting patiently while she played a little hard to get!), Kade finally asked her on a date at Barrel House in Sioux Falls. That first date turned into something much bigger, and they haven’t looked back since.
Kade spent weeks planning the perfect proposal without Kate suspecting a thing.
After what Kate thought was a normal day of errands, a volleyball game, and dinner, Kade led her into her backyard, where twinkling lights, flowers, and photos created a beautiful surprise. Moments later, he got down on one knee.
As if that were not enough, both of their families stepped out from behind the trees to celebrate with them, including Kate’s parents, who had traveled from Canada.
“It truly was magical,” Kate shared. “I will forever cherish those sweet memories.”

👉 Advice for Future Meadow Barn Couples
Kate knows firsthand that wedding planning can feel overwhelming, especially when you are handling much of it yourself. With family living in Canada, she balanced many of the details on her own.
Her biggest piece of advice?
Take it one step at a time.
Book your major vendors first: your venue, caterer, photographer, DJ, and other key professionals. Then, tackle the smaller details little by little. Giving yourself manageable tasks throughout the week makes planning far less stressful than trying to do everything at once.
Kate and Kade also encourage couples to enjoy their engagement instead of rushing through it.
